Boil and Bite

When you open your new QuickHitch MouthGuard out of the package, the hitch will be "closed" - in other words it will still be sealed to the front of the mouthguard at two points. Leave it "closed" until you are done with the boil and bite. The boil and bite process is very similar to most other boil and bite mouthguards with one notable difference: you need to keep the hitch itself dry while placing the mouthguard in boiling water. You can do this one of many ways. Here are a few examples: 1) hold the QuickHitch MouthGuard in the tips of two fingers while dipping it into the water, 2) insert a plastic straw into the hitch and then fold it over to hold the hitch out of the water, 3) run a piece of thread or string through the hitch and dip the mouthguard into the water while holding the thread or string.

The Hitch

The hitch is the reason behind QuickHitch MouthGuard. If you look closely at a new QuickHitch MouthGuard out of the package, you will see a perforation along one point of the hitch where it meets the front of the mouthguard. After you finish your boil and bite with the hitch "closed", then you will want to "open" the hitch for use. Simply hold the mouthguard with one hand and with the other hand grab the hitch at the perforation and slowly pull the hitch open along the perforation. It will separate and pop open. This will detach one side of the hitch and get it ready to use.
